Nicknamed, “City of Palms”, Fort Myers is the center of a popular tourist area in SW Florida. Fort Myers is the seat of Lee County, one of the fastest growing counties in the United States.
Institutions of higher learning include Barry University, Edison State College, Florida Gulf Coast University, Hodges University, Nova Southeastern University among others.
Fort Myers is home to spring training for the Boston Red Sox and Minnesota Twins. In October of 2008 the Lee County commission approved a plan to build a new facility for the Boston Red Sox.
The Fort Myers area is home to over 50 of SWFL renowned 130 public and private golf courses.
The Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) serves the city’s travelers.
