How We Invented the World

Discovery has given the green light to another far-reaching series, this one called How We Invented the World. The five-hour documentary will explore the more important inventions and breakthroughs of the modern world--from the cell phone to the airplane black box--and will look at potential life-changing inventions to come. The series is expected to premiere in 2012.

Top Gear Top 40

Top Gear counts down its most outrageous stunts in a new BBC America series, Top Gear Top 40, premiering Monday, November 28, with back-to-back episodes at 8PM and 9PM. Two new shows will debut each week, until Monday, December 26 when a 90-minute special will reveal the challenge with the greatest number of votes from viewers.
American Chopper Live

Jesse James, who has been tabloid fodder since he was divorced by Sandra Bullock, joins Paul Teutul, Senior and Paul Teutul, Junior on a special two night event, American Chopper Live, live from the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas, Monday-Tuesday, December 5-6, 9PM, on Discovery. James and the Teutels will each build a bike that will be voted on by viewers.
American Horror Story

Handing out a treat for Halloween, FX announced yesterday a renewal order for a second season of American Horror Story with 13 episodes. Created by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, American Horror Story has nine remaining new episodes left to air during season one on Wednesdays at 10p. The season concludes with two episodes on December 21.
Lifeguard!

The Weather Channel is expanding its original programming roster yet again with new docu-drama series Lifeguard! Set to debut in February, the 13-episode series follows the men and women working on the California coastline from San Diego to Malibu.

Beyond Scared Straight

A third season of the real-life series Beyond Scared Straight, documenting jail deterrence programs helping at-risk teens, was approved by A&E Network. Production will begin late this year on 13 new one-hour episodes scheduled to debut in third quarter 2012. All-new episodes from the second season will run in December 2011.
Dina's Party

The party continues at HGTV as the network ordered 13 additional episodes of Dina's Party, featuring events planner and interior designer Dina Manzo who previously starred in Bravo's Real Housewives of New Jersey.
