Discovery has given the green light to another far-reaching series, this one called How We Invented the World. The five-hour documentary will explore the more important inventions and breakthroughs of the modern world--from the cell phone to the airplane black box--and will look at potential life-changing inventions to come. The series is expected to premiere in 2012.

Anger Management

Network: FX

Date: Summer 2012

FX has picked up Charlie Sheen’s new comedy Anger Management, based on the film by the same name. The show is expected to debut in the summer of 2012.

Top Gear Top 40

Network: BBC America

Top Gear counts down its most outrageous stunts in a new BBC America series, Top Gear Top 40, premiering Monday, November 28, with back-to-back episodes at 8PM and 9PM. Two new shows will debut each week, until Monday, December 26 when a 90-minute special will reveal the challenge with the greatest number of votes from viewers.

American Chopper Live

Jesse James, who has been tabloid fodder since he was divorced by Sandra Bullock, joins Paul Teutul, Senior and Paul Teutul, Junior on a special two night event, American Chopper Live, live from the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas, Monday-Tuesday, December 5-6, 9PM, on Discovery. James and the Teutels will each build a bike that will be voted on by viewers.

American Horror Story

Handing out a treat for Halloween, FX announced yesterday a renewal order for a second season of American Horror Story with 13 episodes. Created by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, American Horror Story has nine remaining new episodes left to air during season one on Wednesdays at 10p. The season concludes with two episodes on December 21.

Lifeguard!

Network: The Weather Channel

The Weather Channel is expanding its original programming roster yet again with new docu-drama series Lifeguard! Set to debut in February, the 13-episode series follows the men and women working on the California coastline from San Diego to Malibu.

Would You Rather ...?

Network: BBC America

BBC America has pushed back the premiere of new talk show Would You Rather ...? with Graham Norton by a month to Saturday, December 3, 11PM. The show was to have premiered this week.

Beyond Scared Straight

Network: A&E Network

Date: 2012

Time: TBD

A third season of the real-life series Beyond Scared Straight, documenting jail deterrence programs helping at-risk teens, was approved by A&E Network. Production will begin late this year on 13 new one-hour episodes scheduled to debut in third quarter 2012. All-new episodes from the second season will run in December 2011.

Dina's Party

Network: HGTV

The party continues at HGTV as the network ordered 13 additional episodes of Dina's Party, featuring events planner and interior designer Dina Manzo who previously starred in Bravo's Real Housewives of New Jersey. Dina's Party airs on Saturdays at 10p and new episodes are presently airing with the new collection of episodes bowing next spring.

Kourtney & Kim Take New York

E! announced a handful of new programming initiatives and dates of new and returning series that will kick off in late November. The programming effort opens with the November 27 season premiere of Kourtney & Kim Take New York at 10p sporting new one-hour episodes.

Real Deal

A new series on HISTORY delves into the high-stakes collectibles market when Real Deal premieres November 25 at 9p. The 10-episode half-hour series watches as dealers and sellers negotiate the best price for a collectible piece of history. Tensions mount to see if the seller takes the dealers' offer or will they head to auction in hopes of a better price?

Chef Roble & Co.

New culinary reality show Chef Roble & Co. joins Bravo’s lineup starting December 4 at 10p. Chef Roble Ali has cooked for the rich and famous and now he runs his own high-end catering company in New York City which serves up a new set of stresses and drama.

Impractical Jokers

Hidden camera comedy series Impractical Jokers is set to debut December 15 with back-to-back episodes at 10p and 1030p on truTV. In this original series, four childhood buddies, Brian "Q" Quinn, James "Murr" Murray, Joe Gatto and Sal Vulcano have challenged each other to outrageous public dares and now, to find out who is the best, they will compete at a new level via hidden camera.

Long Island Medium

Predicting a second season, TLC is moving forward with more of Long Island Medium featuring average mom and psychic, Theresa Caputo. TLC okayed 12 new half-hour episodes for season two scheduled to debut in March 2012.

Southland

Production is underway in Los Angeles for a fourth season of TNT's drama series Southland. From producer John Wells and Warner Bros. Television, TNT will premiere the new season of Southland on January 17 at 10p.

America’s Most Wanted

Lifetime has announced that America’s Most Wanted will debut on that network on Friday, December 2, 9PM. The net has ordered 20 episodes of the crime-fighting series that was canceled by Fox this year.

Jersey Shore

Jersey Shore is returning to the Jersey Shore. Season 5 of the MTV reality hit will premiere on Thursday, Jan. 5 at 10/9c, the network announced Wednesday. After spending Season 4 in Italy, New Jersey's notorious guidos and guidettes will return to their roots in Seaside Heights for guaranteed debauchery, G.T.L., and T-shirt time.

Being Chaz

Two new documentary specials "Being Chaz," chronicling Chaz Bono and his girlfriend Jennifer Elia as they navigate their lives together post Chaz's gender transformation surgery, and "I Am Jazz: A Family in Transition," following the life of an extraordinary family and their transgendered daughter, will premiere Sunday, November 27 on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network. "Being Chaz" will air 8-9 p.m. ET/PT followed by "I Am Jazz: A Family in Transition" from 9-10 p.m. ET/PT.

Baseball Wives

VH1 is expanding on its popular "wives" franchise with the captivating new series, "Baseball Wives." Set in Scottsdale Arizona, the home of baseball's spring training, the show features the wives and girlfriends of talented baseball players from various teams.
