Everything submitted to Comcast Spotlight will be checked
for quality assurance purposes, legal and FCC guidelines. Quality
pertains to the content and also the technical specifications set
forth by the FCC and Comcast Spotlight. Any material that does
not meet these standards will be rejected and a replacement
will be requested.
TAPE FORMATS accepted for immediate encoding:
DVCAM
BETA SP
DVC Pro
mini DV
All submissions must include:
All tapes must have full SMPTE Non-drop or drop frame
time code on the entire tape and a minimum of the following:
:10 sec. of color bars and 1k tone
:08 sec. of slate*
:02 sec. of black
:30 FULL seconds of program*
:10 sec. of black
If more than one spot on tape include all requirements for each spot.
* Slate should include:
1) Agency/Producer
2) Client
3) Spot Title
4) Spot Length
5) Name of Contact Person
**Program can be :30, :60 sec. (any other program length
on case by case basis)
All materials MUST arrive 24 hours prior to the air date!
All images and music must be properly licensed. We reserve
the right of refusal to any material that does not meet FCC
regulations, company policy, ethical standards or does not
meet technical specifications or production quality.
FCC Regulations: Video levels must not exceed 100 IRE
at any time. Chroma must not exceed 110 IRE or below
-20 IRE. Black level must not go below 7.5 IRE at any time.
All video must be broadcast quality. NO VHS, 3/4, Hi-8 or Digital 8 is accepted.
Scripts:
All scripts must be submitted in detail. Details
include clear representation of video, graphics, voiceover
(male or female and style), music and any sound
effects.
DVD VIDEO submissions are accepted, but MUST
fulfill the aforementioned tape requirements including
bars & tone, slate information, frame accuracy and
ending in black. DVDs are dubbed to tape prior to
encoding thus requiring a charge.
If the DVD is not DVD Video and will not play in a set
top DVD player then it will be refused and a replacement
will be requested.
Video files accepted
Many file types may be submitted for conversion. Usually
an uncompressed .AVI file with a resolution of 720X486 will
easily be printed out to tape using our Newtek VT4 systems.
This requires a charge. Other
video file types will need to be determined on a case by case
basis by the production department.
Graphic file submissions
The preferred graphic image format is .EPS with an
embedded alpha channel. However, the following file types
are also accepted:
1) .EPS
2) .PSD
3) .PNG
4) .TIFF
5) .JPEG
6) .PDF
7) .TGA
*Scans of business cards, .GIF images &
non-slick company letterhead are poor
resolution. Comcast Spotlight provides logo
services including upgrades, reconstructions,
color alterations and compatibility
formatting. Contact the production department
for more information.
Please note that NTSC standard resolution is 720X486
and is non-square pixel based RGB. CMYK images are most
commonly used in print production.
Audio file submissions:
The preferred audio is uncompressed PCM .WAV file at 48K, 16 Bit.
Other files accepted include:
1) .WAV
2) .MP3
3) .AIFF
4) .WMA
