Actress Megan Fox Embarks on an Epic Journey to Investigate Enduring Ancient Mysteries in Travel Channel's New Series "Legends of the Lost with Megan Fox"

November 14, 2018 / 10:03 AM

A self-described "seeker," actress Megan Fox has an intrinsic thirst for knowledge and an insatiable curiosity for ancient mysteries and cultures. Now, she's taking an extraordinary journey across the globe to re-examine some of the world's most enduring legends and lore in Travel Channel's new series, "Legends of the Lost with Megan Fox," premiering on Tuesday, December 4 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

In each of the four hour-long episodes, Fox brings a fresh perspective to learning about some of the greatest myths and stories left behind by our ancient ancestors. Meeting with experts and archaeologists, and perusing through priceless texts and fascinating artifacts, Fox attempts to uncover answers about the age-old mysteries that still perplex scientists and archaeologists to this day: What was Stonehenge's real purpose? Was the Trojan War real? Were some of the fierce Viking warriors actually women? Who were the first human settlers to arrive on the shores of what is now North America?

"All across the world, our ancient ancestors left behind towering mysteries and enchanting myths," said Fox. "As an actress, I've been lucky enough to peek behind the curtain at some of these ancient sites, and it has ignited an insatiable curiosity in me to learn more about these lost worlds that are deep in our distant past."

In the series premiere, Megan Fox journeys to Scandinavia and England to investigate a bold new hypothesis that powerful female warriors played a role in helping the Viking hordes become the most feared army of the time. From the earliest recorded invasions in 790 AD through the Norman Conquest of England in 1066, the Vikings raided and pillaged from Scandinavia to England and Russia, as far east as Newfoundland and to the shores of North Africa. For centuries, it was widely believed that Viking men led the charge. But new archaeological findings are questioning these long held beliefs, and Megan Fox is on a quest to find the truth about the elite Viking warriors.

Upcoming episodes include:

"Stonehenge: The Healing Stones" - Premieres Tuesday, December 11 at 8 p.m. ET/PT

Megan Fox travels to the United Kingdom to explore one of the most mysterious archaeological sites in the world - Stonehenge. She'll investigate why our ancestors built this enigmatic monument and explore whether the stones possess supernatural powers. Was Stonehenge an ancient calendar, the world's first "supercomputer," or a Stone Age hospital? Or perhaps it was all, or none, of the above?

"America's Lost Civilization" - Premieres Tuesday, December 18 at 8 p.m. ET/PT

For nearly 100 years, scientists have said that humans came to what is today the United States of America at the end of the last Ice Age, some 13,000 years ago. But new archaeological findings along the Savannah River in the southeastern United States show that a great migration could have happened as far back as 48,000 BC. Some believe these first settlers were gigantic prehistoric versions of homo sapiens. Megan Fox seeks to uncover who, or what, these early settlers really were.

"The Trojan War: Myth or Truth?" - Premieres Tuesday, December 25 at 8 p.m. ET/PT

Megan Fox travels to Turkey to try to answer the longstanding question: Did the infamous Trojan War actually take place? Using one of the greatest Greek legends, Homer's Iliad, as her treasure map, Fox examines high-tech data and the latest archaeological finds along the coast of modern day Turkey in search of answers. Was Homer's Iliad the greatest work of fiction ever written... or was he recording real events?

Discovery has always taken viewers to places they otherwise could not go on their own - whether it's the depths of the jungle or the turbulent waters of the Bering Sea. Today, Discovery announced it will document the work of law enforcement on the U.S.-Mexico border as well as the real lives, real moments and real stories of those that live and work along its remote stretches in BORDER LIVE. This all-new six-part multiplatform series will broadcast live beginning Wednesday, December 5, airing 9-11 PM ET/PT on Discovery.

"The US-Mexico border has been the focus of our national dialogue over the last several years. Our goal with this project is to shine a light on epic stories through immersive experiences, and we will turn that lens on one of the biggest and most important stories of our time," said Nancy Daniels, Chief Brand Officer, Discovery & Factual.

Each week, Discovery will broadcast live from its New York-based studio. The show will be hosted by award-winning news journalist Bill Weir, who will track the action and stories as they unfold live from the U.S.-Mexico border. In addition, Weir will engage with experts across a range of border issues, offering insight and perspective on events as they occur. BORDER LIVE crews will be embedded out in the field with officers and special agents at key border sites from Nogales, Ariz., in the west to the Rio Grande Valley and points east. Veteran investigative journalist Lilia Luciano will also be immersed in the field and tackle stories by interviewing a tapestry of people who live and work along the border.

Currently, Weir serves as an anchor and special correspondent for CNN, first joining the network in November 2013. He began at CNN after a decade of distinctive broadcast journalism at ABC News. Including his work on "The Wonder List with Bill Weir," he's reported from over 100 countries and has covered both sides of the southern border under three American presidents.
